Actuality Media was founded on the idea of connecting emerging filmmakers and grassroots changemakers in order to tell stories that matter. We believe that storytelling can lead to impact through the spread of the ideas, improved access to resources and changing the global conversation. By focusing on the social entrepreneurial endeavors of both individuals and organizations we aim to shine a light on the problem solvers.

In each of our programs we coordinate crews of media students and professionals to travel to developing communities in order to produce media about the local changemakers. We do not make promotional videos but rather character driven short documentary films. Revealing a new world to the audience in a way that relies on traditional storytelling techniques is proven to increase audience engagement and lead to more direct action than a standard marketing piece.

Once the films have been completed by on crews on location, the team at Actuality Media works to develop a comprehensive distribution strategy. In addition to making the films available for the changemakers to use, screen and place on their website we explore a variety of avenues for further impact. Distribution elements may include film festival submission, inclusion on online documentary libraries, broadcast licensing in a variety of countries, inclusion in video-on-demand services, community screenings in multiple countries, educational curriculum development, and more. Strategies are developed based on the target audience and purpose of the film as well as the resulting content.
